SVST’s Research and Publications office aims to promote a culture of research at SVST as well as promote the publication of writings by our faculty, students and collaborators which are in line with the following research agenda of the SVST:
- Vincentian studies
- Historical studies on the Church in the Philippines/Asia
- Theological/Ethical/Liturgical/Biblical studies related to poverty, gender, justice, peace, and integrity of creation in the global/late modern contexts
- Inculturation and contextualization in Asia-Pacific and Philippine realities
The research methodology must be:
• Grounded both in the classical sources and contemporary global developments
• Marked by an inter-disciplinary and/or interfaith character
• Informed by the religious experience and praxis of the socially excluded
SVST publishes and promotes the research work of our administrators and faculty members in any format produced. These are products rooted in Vincentian charism, showcasing the ideologies of St. Vincent the Paul and the actions done with the marginalized sectors. A Journal of Interdisciplinary Theological Research
Hapág (‘table’ – the Filipino locus for the exchange of food and nourishment, likewise of multiple stories, casual views or deep reflections, of differing beliefs, cultures and disciplines, all done on the spirit of sharing, acceptance and openness) is a bi-annual review of theological-pastoral research from an interdisciplinary perspective in the Philippine and Asia/Pacific contexts. It is a collaborative project of St. Vincent School of Theology and Adamson University.

Philosophical, sociological, historical and anthropological titles with theological-pastoral implications are also most welcome. - Abstract
- Manuscript of the Article
- Bio-note of the Author
- An article that does not exceed twelve thousand (12,000) words should be submitted with an abstract, keywords and a short bio-note about the author.
- Each of the submissions is to be subjected to at least one (1) blind review by a member of the Editorial Board or by an expert on the field designated by the Editorial Committee. Authors will be notified of the Editor’s decision as soon as possible.
- Articles may be rejected on the basis of the fundamental commitments of HAPÁG Journal based on the Vision-Mission of the St. Vincent School of Theology.
- Inclusive language is recommended.
- Manuscripts shall use Microsoft Word Processor and follow the University of Chicago Manual of Style.
- Submission implies that the manuscript has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- The author may be given a soft-copy of his or her laid out edited work for some very minor corrections. New concepts or ideas will not be anymore welcome as it would affect the lay out work of the article.
- Contributors from the Philippines will receive three (3) copies while those abroad will be sent an e-copy of the corresponding issue of HAPÁG free of charge.

Guidelines for Contributing SVST Students & Alumni
1. All bona fide students and alumni of St. Vincent School of Theology (SVST) are eligible to submit their paper for publication in MARGINS. Manuscripts are submitted electronically through email: svst.research@gmail.com
2. MARGINS accepts four (4) types of submissions for publication:
- Articles: original work in the fields of philosophy, theology (systematic studies, biblical theology, moral theology, liturgy, and spirituality), and pastoral ministry from 8,000 to 10,000 words that substantively contributes to the advancement of new knowledge and perspectives. Articles are submitted with a cover page containing the title, author’s full name, affiliation, and contact information (email), and a 250-word abstract.
- Reflective Essays: thought-provoking and insightful work in philosophy, theology, and pastoral ministry from 5,000 to 7,000 words that probe deeper into timely issues in the contemporary Church and society.
- Synthesis Papers: research successfully defended by students in the BA Philosophy or Curriculum for the Ordained Ministry, and synthesized in 5,000 to 7,000 words.
- Book Reviews: comprehensive and critical review in 1,500 to 2,500 words of a book in philosophy, theology, pastoral ministry, or other allied disciplines published within the last 3 years.
3. Articles are subject to a double-blind review. Authors will be notified regarding the outcome of the review and the decision of the Editor about the work submitted.
4. Reflective essays, synthesis papers, and book reviews undergo extensive copyediting to satisfy academic standards required for publication.
5. Contributions in English and Filipino are welcome. Submissions in Filipino should contain a 250-word abstract in English to introduce the work to English readers.
6. Manuscripts shall follow the Chicago Manual of Style (Turabian), 9th edition, for in-text references of works cited.
7. Use of inclusive and gender-fair language is required for all articles and essays.
8. Submission in Margins implies that the work has not been previously submitted in any other journal
