CBCP DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH MYANMAR - July 19, 2021

Manila, Philippines
12:00 nn

Why a "DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH MYANMAR" ?

  • To pray for Myanmar and honor their sacrifices for democracy.
  • A special day of prayerful observance and solidarity on behalf of the people of Myanmar who would be celebrating "Martyr's Day" on the said date in honor of the death and sacrifices of Gen. Aung San and his cabinet members who were assassinated on the said date, in the year 1947.

How can the Church take part?

  • The CBCP (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines) encourages all parishes and shrines to observe the following on July 19:
    1. the tolling of our church bells at 12:00nn and at 6:00pm;
    2. praying the Prayer of Solidarity with Myanmar prepared by the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy in all masses on the said day.

Below is the full text of the “Prayer of Solidarity with Myanmar” issued by the Episcopal Commission on Liturgy:

    PRAYER OF SOLIDARITY WITH MYANMAR

(This may be prayed by all after the post communion prayer)

    God our loving Father,
you guide all creation with fatherly care.
We humbly pray for our brothers and sisters in Myanmar
in these trying times brought about by the military junta and Covid-19.
Many of them are suffering, hungry, sick, victims of violence,
displaced from their homes and separated from families.
Look upon them with mercy and protect them from all harm
and unite them in justice and peace.
We pray for all who stand for truth and justice,
may your Holy Spirit strengthen them in the assurance
    that peacemakers are your children
and that their sacrifice and labor will bear fruit with your grace.
We pray for all those who cause these sufferings and violence,
that you may touch their hearts and lead them to repentance and change of hearts.
Bring all of us together peacefully into one family
and keep us all united in brotherly love.
We ask this, through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
    God forever and ever.
    Amen.

Experiencing Communion with God in the Time of CoVID: The Sacraments and their Challenges Today

      Tandang Sora, Quezon City
      1:30 PM

The 4th and last on the series of SVST Academic Forum for this school year was held live online last April 28, 2021. Entitled "Experiencing Communion with God in the Time of COVID: The Sacraments and their Challenges Today", this lecture was delivered by our very own rector and the De Paul House superior- Rev. Fr. Manuel F. Ginete, CM, PhD. The webcast of this forum hosted by Sr. Daryl Joy Almonia, DC started at 1:30 pm via Zoom and was also posted live in the Facebook account of SVST.

      Abstract:
COVID-19 has disrupted the usual flow of human existence. Particularly affected is the sacramental practice that characterized regular religious experience. Yet at the same time COVID provides us the precious opportunity to re-assess, re-calibrate, and re-think not only the practice but also the theology of sacraments in particular and religious experience in general. This webinar is an attempt to begin a conversation along this line.
